Bataan Death March

This past weekend we traveled to El Paso because Tim was participating in the Annual Bataan Memorial Death March.  It is a march/marathon through the White Sands Missile Range and honors those Soldiers that endured the Bataan Death March through the Phillipines during WWII.  See here for a brief history of the Bataan Death March.  Survivors were present at the race and Tim was able to meet some of them and get their signatures on his certificate.  It was such an amazing experience and reminds me yet again of the sacrifices people have made and continue to make in order for us to live as free people in this country.  Thank you to all those that continue to serve and sacrifice and their families who do the same.

Gorgeous view from the finish line

I absolutely loved this picture of a Soldier running with the American flag.. it amazes me how the American flag can trigger such pride and emotion in me everytime I see it in the hands of Soldiers

Tim and his teammates about to cross the finish line after a long day
